February 3, 2012
Dear Parents,
Yesterday the groundhog saw his shadow, so I guess we are in for six more weeks of winter. The children overwhelmingly predicted that this would be the outcome. For religion this week we worked on our Mass. Thank you parents who helped with your child’s reading at home. They all did a wonderful job. Also, thank you for all of the wonderful cards and gifts that we received this week. It is because of all you good parents that this is such a great place to be. In math we have been exploring doubles and we are still learning about maps in Social Studies.
On Wednesday, the primary children will have a presentation on Rachel’s Challenge at 9:00. Because of this, we will not be having centers that day. The older children’s program will be later in the day. That evening, there is a presentation for parents at 7:00 PM. We hope you will be able to attend.
On Friday, February 10 we will dismiss at noon for the midwinter break. School will resume on Tuesday, February 21. The children’s poem selection is due on Friday. Hopefully, you can spend some time this weekend narrowing the search. Also on Friday we will celebrate the 100th day of school. Please send your child with a baggie that contains 100 pieces of cereal. We will discuss how 100 pieces of cereal can look so different with different types of cereal. We will also be having other 100 related activities that day.
Attached is a form from Officer O’Brien that is a follow-up to his presentation last week. Look at the form and go over the information with your child. This information is for you and your child and is not to be returned to school. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the Super Bowl. May your team win. Mrs. Mackin and Mrs. Kester
